Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

‘Empowering students for learning and life’

Welcome Back to Term 3

We are already a week and half into our new term, and I trust that all families have had relaxing break. The term has commenced very well with students actively engaged in pursuing their academic best. This is a big term for our Year 12s as they enter the last stretch of their final year of schooling.  We look forward to working with them and supporting them in achieving their very best.

Senior School Information Evening

On Wednesday 17th of July we held our Senior School Information evening.  This was a very important event for all of our students in Year 9 and 10 and it was great to see so many parents, carers and students in attendance.   The evening provided parents/carers and our students with valuable information to assist them in making an informed decision regarding the most appropriate  pathway for the young person.  Students need to consider whether or not to complete a VET certificate, starting in Year 10; whether to complete a VCE or a VCAL senior certificate.  This evening provided students and families the opportunity to ask questions and clarify intentions for the future prior to the individual course counselling which will occur over the next couple of weeks for our Year 9 and 10 students. It was a very successful night.  We look forward to working with our students and their parents/carers during the course counselling days scheduled for Wednesday 24th of July for our Year 10 students and Thursday 25th of July for our Year 9 students.

2019 Parent Opinion Survey

The annual Parent Opinion Survey, offered by the Department of Education and Training, for 2019 will be conducted during Term 3 from 22nd of July to 11th of August 2019.

The survey is an important part of our school's parent engagement strategies and will assist us with future planning and improvement.  It will be tabled at School Council and presented to all staff.  The Leadership Team will use this to inform the work we do for continued school improvement.

This year will be inviting all of our parent/carer community to participate in the annual survey, which is confidential and anonymous.

This year the survey will be conducted online by ORIMA Research Pty Ltd and only takes 15 minutes to complete. The survey can be accessed via desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile at any convenient time within the fieldwork period from 22nd of July to 11th of August 2019.

We encourage everyone to take the time to complete the survey as it will provide us with valuable feedback for reflection and continual improvement.  We will also be holding a special session at the College for any parent/carer who need access to a digital devise or would prefer to complete the survey at the College.  Opportunity will also be provided at next week’s year 9 and 10 course counselling days/evenings.  Please ensure that you access the online survey on the link that you will personally be provided with by August 11th.  Please note that this survey is conducted independently of the College; the survey results will be reported back to our school at the end of September

The online survey is available in English, Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (Hakha) and Hindi.

Survey language guides will be provided in a range of languages including Albanian, Bengali, Burmese, Cantonese, Dari, Filipino, Greek, Gujarati, Indonesian, Japanese, Karen, Khmer, Korean, Macedonian, Malayalam, Pashto, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Serbian, Sinhalese, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Telugu, Turkish or Urdu.

We look forward to reviewing parent feedback through this survey as it will guide the future of our College.

Lynbrook Art Competition

The Lynbrook Art Competition culminated in an awards presentation on Tuesday 25th June, which was held at the Suburban Burger in Lynbrook where our students who were shortlisted enjoyed lunch with their Art Work on display around the restaurant.  Congratulations to all our students who conducted themselves respectfully and made our school very proud.  A particular mention needs to go to the award recipients, Rifat Nur who won first prize. Other award recipients included Sithick Soth, Cadee Fletcher, Faith Jobson, Ava Harrison and People’s Choice, Dakota Barbaressos.

A very special thank you to Melanie Brown, the Marketing Manager at Lynbrook Village Shopping Centre, who together with Claire Clancy worked tirelessly to organise this special event.  Thanks also to Suburban Burger and Local Business Lynbrook News for your Art supply donations.  I would also like to thank our Art teacher, Ms Georgie Gaitanis, who supported our students throughout the entire event.  There is an article on page 7 of the Cranbourne News, dated 4th July, and online at Star News Group where our winners and their paintings are on display; it is worth a read. Congratulations again to everyone involved.
