A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Parent Teacher and Student conferences are an invaluable opportunity to connect and seek feedback about student progress.
The day reflects so much about the value of education at McKinnon.
I love seeing parents and students having discussions after each interview. Student outcomes are impressive at McKinnon because parents and teachers work so closely to achieve all we can for the student in our care.
The strong relationships formed between staff, students and parents and the respect shown is a credit to everyone.
It is a long day but such a rewarding and positive one!
To staff, thank you for being here. Thank you for your commitment, dedication and professionalism.
To parents I say thank you for taking such an interest in your child’s education and being such an invaluable support to us. You are an incredibly important member of the McKinnon success story.
Finally to the students, I say keep up your great efforts, do the very best you can and we could not be more proud!

I would like to thank all staff who have helped us celebrate and particularly Mrs Nayyar for her dedication and commitment to putting together a very enjoyable and successful week of celebration.

ALL SCHOOLS ATHLETICS VICTORIA KNOCKOUT
On Thursday 14 September twenty of our students represented the school at the Athletics Victoria All Schools Knockout Competition at Lakeside stadium. The competition saw our students competing against the top athletes from all public and private schools from across Victoria with winners progressing to National Finals in Adelaide.
Our Junior Boys Squad consisted of Seamus O’Brien (Year 7), Finn Paynter (Year 7), Nicholas Karamihos (Year 8), Lachie Edis (Year 9), Matt Day (Year 7) and Matt O’Brien (Year 8). A couple of noteworthy performances were recorded on the day, Seamus came 10th in the Hurdles, Finn 14th in the 100m and Matt O’Brien placed 4th in the Javelin. The Relay team ran a 4 x 200m at the conclusion of the competition placing 9th. The boys overall position was a fantastic 8th place out of 26 teams.
Our Intermediate Girls Squad consisted of Cara Smith(Year 8), Genevieve O’Brien (Year 9), Lilli Baikie (Year 8), Emma Hattingh (Year 10), Stephanie Baker (Year 7), Hannah Cote (Year 7), Arwen Verdnik (Year 10) and Gemma Strangio(Year 10). Hannah Cote, our star Year 7 sprinter came 4th in the 100m and 5th in the 200m despite competing against girls in Year 9 and 10. Both Lilli (Year 8) and Stephanie (Year 7) also performed very well placing 2nd in the Javelin and 6th in the Shot Put, throwing against girls 2-3 years older than themselves. The girls finished the day by coming 7th in the Relay and placing 10th overall out of 19 teams.
