THEATRE STUDIES EXCURSION

On Wednesday 23 August, the Year 11 Theatre Class ventured off to the Southbank Theatre to watch the matinee performance of Melbourne Theatre Company's “Di and Viv and Rose”. The play included actresses Nadine Garner, Belinda McClory and AAMI’s like a sunrise Mandy McElhinney.

“Di and Viv and Rose” is about three young women in university in England in the 1980s. The three grow up and experience a range of events that shape them individually but also as a whole. This performance included a range of theatrical styles: Naturalistic, Non-Naturalistic and Feminist.

Overall, this play was absolutely stunning to watch and it was interesting to look into the different areas of stagecraft and expressive skills to analyse for our assessment.

HOLIDAY REMINDER

A quick holiday reminder for parents and students.

Once we are on holidays we quickly forget how tiring the term can be.  This year we seem to have had an unusual amount of sickness and very cold rainy days. This has affected everyone, negatively. During the holidays, take time to rest.

Put the following on your list of things to do:

  • Get extra sleep as research suggests that teenagers require nine to ten hours of sleep every night;
  • Turn the phone off, place it on charge, go for a walk and get some vital Vitamin D to help ‘recharge your battery’;
  • Read a book, not a text book but one for pleasure.

Have a wonderful break and look forward to seeing everyone next term.
