EMPOWER

During Term 2, the boys program EMPOWER was reinstated for the boys of year 7 and 8.

15 boys over both year levels are undertaking the self awareness and marshal arts program.  As well as Mr Robinson running the program, we have local instructors, Fallon and Jeremy supporting him.  The boys are learning traditional Mouldy (Maori) techniques to assist them with their self focus and discipline.

Wellbeing Parent Morning

A Wellbeing Parent Morning Session was held by the Student Wellbeing Team on Tuesday 30 July in the Performing Arts Centre. Patterson River's Literacy Specialist, Jennifer Redman, presented information on The Teenage Brain and how this extraordinary time of development influences a child’s decision making, actions and behaviour. The discussion covered adolescence as a time of significant growth and development as the adolescent brain experiences one of its biggest periods of cognitive growth and emotional development. The presentation was well attended and we look forward to welcoming parents and carers back again in mid August for another welling focused presentation.
