EXCEL Sports Testing Day 2019

On Thursday 16 May, 64 Grade 6 students from surrounding Primary Schools attended Patterson River Secondary College to apply for the Year 7 EXCEL Sport class of 2020. The students participated in soccer, fitness testing, murder ball, badminton, hockey and a theory component. Congratulations to the students who were offered a provisional place in the program should they gain a place at the College for 2020.  A special mention to all of the staff and the Year 10 EXCEL Sport students who helped make the day possible.

Futsal - Patterson River Wins Again!

During Term 2, the EXCEL Sports Program entered the Melbourne School Futsal Titles, held at Monash University in Clayton. Three boys teams competed in the Under 15’s and 16’s competitions on Monday 29 April, and were drawn to play against some highly skilled and experienced schools from around Melbourne. The early pool games were hard going for all teams, however the boys all showed great determination, concentration and teamwork throughout the day and can hold their heads up high. Later that week four girls teams competed at the same event. The girls showed their skills and tactical knowledge throughout the games, with the under 16’s A team winning through to the Final against Marymede College. In a tense contest, the girls prevailed in the end, winning the title for the second year in a row. A great result! Thank you to Mr. Chandra and Ms Daly for their assistance throughout the days.
