Use your brain. READ
There are many reasons why reading will improve your brain.
Reading will
- increase your knowledge of words & how to use them.
- improve your ability to talk to others. You learn new words, see how they’re written in a story, which then helps you to use the words yourself.
- lead to greater general knowledge.
- improve your memory. Reading helps your brain to remember ideas and words, i.e. training your brain.
- help you to concentrate. To make sense of a story, you need to ‘pay attention’ to the words and what they mean.
BUT, to do all this, you need to work your brain by choosing to read stories or reading matter that ‘stretches’ you in some way, e.g. in vocabulary, issues, length of book.
