Winter Sports

Softball Report

On the 5th of May, the sun shone upon the NPS Golden Batters Softball Team, as they began their 2021 Winter Sports campaign. The game began… Arianna, the pitcher, threw her first pitch and the St Joey’s batter struck at the ball. “Ting,” the ball skimmed across the grass, and Kade skilfully grabbed and threw it to second base.

There were great catches taken by Urijah and Taesharn, there were also fantastic hits by everyone and accurate throws.

One of the highlights of the game was the unbelievable, AWESOME AND I MEAN AWESOME miracle by Holly. She was standing on first base… in her own little world. “HOLLY,” Taesharn yelled.

“Oh,” said Holly as she suddenly realised that she had caught the ball and got the runner out!

The score was 28 to 8 Golden Batters way.

Congratulations to all the Golden Batters who also played fairly and showed great skills: Kade, Liam, Bailey, Declan, Chase, Angus, Holly, Urijah, and Arianna. Great leadership by Taesharn (Capt), Marshall (V Capt), and Matthew (consultant).

Netball Report

On Wednesday, 5th May, Numurkah Primary School Thunderbolts played St. Joseph’s Netball Team. We ate an early lunch and then changed into our dresses, marched to St.Joey’s, and played our 4 amazing quarters of netball. The two netball teams played a practice scratch match before the real deal. When we got into the 1st quarter we scored one goal, and St.Joey’s shot one too, then Jazzy twisted her ankle and swapped with Mia. Time was called and we changed positions and had a drink.

The 2nd quarter began and we were off to a great start. The ball was mostly in the St.Joey’s goal ring but we were trying our best to defend and we were having fun. Our team didn’t score any goals but that was alright.

The 3rd quarter was exciting and it was tough. Sadly we didn’t score any goals but we are still proud of ourselves. We just couldn’t seem to get a good grip on the ball. The whistle went and we were finished the 3rd quarter and changed positions.

The 4th quarter started with enthusiastic netball players on both sides. We tossed that ball and unfortunately, Tyiesha twisted her ankle so badly that she couldn’t put pressure on it at all - she is ok now though. The final score was 20-1, St.Joey’s way. The entire team was proud knowing that we tried our best.

Muppets and the Softball Game!

Imagine yourself in line to bat in the first game of softball this season playing against St. Joey’s. The nerves kick in; sweat and tears are streaming down your face… hoping that the pitcher doesn’t throw the ball too high.

It turned out well, though – we won; the scores were 28 to 10.

NPS Muppets softball team played a home game here at Numurkah Primary School on the 5th of May. Everyone was a bit nervous as we had not played a team from another school. The nerves disappeared as soon as we saw the other team play. The pitcher was pretty good in the first innings but as other pitchers had a go, their form dropped. Our Vice Captain, Max, only hit the ball once but in the next two innings, he got four balls so got to walk happily to first base. The last hitter was Baelan who did very well, getting everyone home except for the third innings when he went out.

In the field, players did really well, especially those on the bases making sure they did not miss the ball when it came to them. Tommi pitched well, directing the ball straight to the batter. A couple of St. Joey’s runners got close to home base, but we managed to get them out. In the third innings, our game dropped and the opposition pushed up from six to ten in the last part of the innings. So we really need to improve on that, next game.

Overall, everyone in both teams did pretty well. St. Joeys tried their hardest and so did we. We have some areas we need to improve on even though we won. A fun time was in our team huddle – we tried to look professional but were really just having a laugh.

Congratulations to all the Muppet players on supporting each other and showing great skills: Sienna, Jordan, Will, Summer, Rihanna, Billy, Wyleigh, Isaac, Liam, Ben, Tommi, and Tyrell. Excellent leadership by Max (V Capt) and Baelan (consultant).

Football Game NPS vs St Joseph’s

On Wednesday 5th May the NPS Football team went to St Joseph’s to play our first football match of the year. Sadly, we lost by a few goals.

Tyler kicked the best goal of the game, he kicked it from the boundary on a spectacular angle. When Cooper went onto the bench Bailey got moved into ruck and he was incredible.

Tyson was our full back and he saved many, many goals and kicked the ball back into the midfield, and then Teddy kicked it down to the centre half-forward until we got a goal.

All the players would like to say thank you to everyone for coming along and supporting and encouraging our players during this game.

Netball Report

Wednesday the 5th May was super exciting - we were at St. Joseph’s Primary School playing netball and we played exceptionally well. The Demons are definitely excelling in their skills.

We walked to St. Joseph’s and started training. Then we put our bibs on and the whistle blew. In the first quarter, we had Marli and Leila in the ring shooting goals and myself in the Centre. We were off to a great start shooting 9 goals and St. Joseph’s only shooting 1. In the second quarter, we scored 10, and in the third quarter, we made 1 goal. Even though we didn’t shoot any goals in the fourth quarter, we still kept our game and played hard. Overall, we scored 20 goals to St. Joseph’s 1. Some of our best players were Anna, Georgie, and Tahnee who were awesome defenders and threw the ball down the court in a second.

The whole team had so much fun and enjoyed playing; we were also very happy that we won.
