Education Week:  May 23 - 29

Now in its 77th year, Education Week aims to positively profile and celebrate the strengths and achievements of Victoria’s government education sector.

This year Education Week runs from 23-29 May. The theme ‘Building Connections’ focuses on how the community can act as a support network, support students’ learning and development and enhance social inclusion.

Education Week is an opportunity for all primary and secondary schools, higher education, and early childhood services to showcase how they are building connections with the community around them.

CSPS will be celebrating Education Week by hosting a variety of guest speakers including a local Indigenous elder to talk about our local area. Classes will be working with their buddy classes to further develop connections within the school. More details to follow.

Class Splits @ CSPS

Some days your child may come home and say, "We were split today." What does this mean for your child?

A class may be split when a teacher is away or is required to attend a meeting.  A Casual Relief Teacher (CRT) may not be available to replace the usual class room teacher and a split may occur.

A class split usually means that the class is divided up amongst the sub school in which they work eg. Junior School for Foundation - Year 2 students. Students are then supervised by other classroom teachers in different rooms. Students will be spilt with other members of their class (often selecting a friend to be their split buddy). These students will participate in the class activities and complete tasks at their level. Sub schools plan activities together so tasks will cater for all students.

Sometimes when a class is split they may take an "On the Move" folder with them. This folder usually contains a variety of different, open ended activities ranging from reading, writing, mathematics to inquiry topics and well being activities.

Congratulations to the Year 3 and 5 students who participated in the NAPLAN testing this week. It was an extremely busy week in which the students showed the CSPS 4Ps.  Year 4 and 6 students also completed practice tests and showed the 4Ps as well. Well done to staff and students for their hard work!
