Get to know your library

Welcome to the John Cain Library 2020
The library has an excellent fiction collection of print, audio and eBooks, catering mainly for teenagers and young adults. Our non-fiction collection covers curriculum areas as well as some recreational reading. You can access the collection via the John Cain Library WebCatalogue or go to the Compass Star menu, select Library Sign in from the drop down menu and follow the prompts.
Please ask library staff for assistance if you have problems accessing the Webcatalogue.
Student can borrow up to 10 books for two weeks, with the option of renewing their books online or at the desk. The library resources are shared by the whole school community so please remember to return items as soon as you have finished with them. If you think you have lost a book speak to the library staff as early as possible so you don’t receive overdue emails.
Student can access two eBooks/Audiobooks at a time for two weeks. Go to the Library webpage and click on the ePlatform image eBooks and Audiobooks select the sign in button and use you Compass username and password. Library staff run eBook training sessions, please see the staff at the library desk if you have problems accessing the eBooks.
Library services and activies
The library team conduct library orientation and research skills sessions in collaboration with teachers for all year levels. Links for research skills, resources and online databases can be accessed via the John Cain Library web catalogue. The Student Research Skills page can also be accessed via MyNH using the menu window on the left - Student Research Skills.
Clickview Streamed Programs
NHS has over 4800 commercial and free to air films and documentaries on a wide range of subjects you can access using your device. Clickview allows students to view programs online from any location with internet access, using their Compass sign on (on and off campus).
Sign in - via Compass to access Clickview from the Star drop down menu, using your Compass credentials. Ask library staff if you would like an introduction session to the Clickview platform and features.
Get involved in the various library activities like the Student Assistant Program, the Bookmark Design Challenge, or one of the lunch time activities ; Book Club, Bullet Journals, Make & Take Mondays and board games.
If you would like to be involved in any of these activities talk to the library staff and remember to check the plasma screens and newsletter for upcoming events.
