Year 7 Textiles                             Bandanas

Last term, Year 7 students took on the challenge of creating bandanas with unique designs. We started off creating a mood board to inspire our designs. The platform we used was 'Canva', which is a digital design website.

The design of our bandanas was based on quotes that communicate a positive message. Part of the task was to choose suitable images that help convey the positive messages to the viewer.

On 'Canva', we had to incorporate the design elements of colour, texture, contrast and size. For this task we used many different skills for example; flipping text and hand embroidery. Then we used the heat press to print our design onto the fabric.

Below is a picture of our Textiles class wearing their bandanas.

Year 9 Textiles                             Tie-Dye

In Creative Textiles we have been focusing on the spectrum of the rainbow. We then used this as a theme to create pieces such as bags where we tie-dyed using the seven colours (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink).

We utilised many different tie-dye techniques in the class like spiral, scrunch, marble and salt, to make sure each student had used a unique effect.

After tie-dying the fabrics in allocated colours, we continued to embellish our bags in a monochromatic style using buttons, beads and sequins in all shapes and sizes.

To record our process, we have been photographing each step and annotating this in our digital portfolios so we could reflect on our work and then submitting our work for assessment.
