ANZAC Day Ceremony

Last Friday the students led a moving ceremony. We were reminded of the sacrifices made by many, for others. The music and poems were highly emotional and it was rewarding to observe how respectful and reflective the Le Page Primary School students were. Brooke Sheppard facilitated the ceremony and for that she is to be commended.

Film Making Program

Last week Bruce Grantford introduced himself to our new staff and students. The movie scripts will be written over the coming weeks with input from the students. This year we are exploring the possibility of hiring a large enough cinema for one whole-school screening. The Astor Cinema is an option. We will keep you informed.

Kinder-Foundation Transition

This week Madeleine Simos facilitated another successful session with eleven pre-school children in attendance. There are ten transition sessions scheduled throughout the year. These sessions will provide multiple opportunities for our new students to develop connections with teachers and peers in preparation for a 2022 start. At this stage we anticipate there will be three Foundation classes of 17-19 students.

Enrolments

Students continue to  be enrolled in all grade levels at Le Page Primary School. A number have returned from overseas after extensive quarantine processes. We welcome all our new students.

Leader in Me

The students have now set their Term 2 personal and academic goals. When visiting the students in their classrooms, they are always keen to share their goals with me and visitors on school tours.

On Monday, five teachers will participate in Leader in Me Lighthouse training. The team will increase their knowledge in order to lead the school towards Lighthouse accreditation as a 7 Habits of Highly Effective People School. Parktone Primary School (my previous school) was the first to be accredited in Australia. Educators visited to see, hear and feel, how the students and staff were practicing the habits and meeting high academic standards. Le Page Primary School is building momentum in the same direction.

Boundary Fencing

The new fence and gate system will be completed in Term 3. It will be the start of a new era, when we can secure our grounds out of school hours. Then we will focus on beautifying our gardens and outdoor spaces.

Gratitude Empathy and Mindfulness

Gratitude: Be thankful for what we have. Empathy: Practice random acts of kindness. Mindfulness: Keep in the present moment. At Le Page Primary School we continue to focus on proactive thinking. Reflecting on G.E.M. can change the way we think and feel. As we feel gratitude, practice empathy and remain mindful, we actually nurture ourselves: we positively influence others and increase our capacity to create win-win outcomes. G.E.M. fosters a sense of peace and happiness, regardless of our circumstances.

Thought for the Week

Have a great weekend everyone.
