Quality Management in Primary and Ambulatory Care: The International Experience

The National Authority for Quality Management in Healthcare (NAQMH), Romania, is hosting an international conference on “Quality Management in Primary and Ambulatory Care: The International Experience”.
The event will be held online, on Thursday, 20 May, between 10:00 – 15:30 EEST.
Three speakers from France, Denmark and Spain – Bruno Lucet, Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS); Dr Carsten Engel, Danish Institute for Quality and Accreditation in Healthcare (IKAS); and Ángela Palop del Río, Andalusian Agency of Healthcare Quality - will share their experience on the preparation of standards, accreditation implementation and accreditation benefits. This session will be moderated by Helen Crisp (UK).
In discussion with Helen, the speakers will consider what has been learnt about how to improve the skills of providers in healthcare quality management; the focus of quality management in their different national contexts; and the risks when there is not a rigorous approach to implementation of healthcare quality management standards.
The next sessions will focus on the Romanian context, by addressing issues such as the added value of NAHQM standards, the current stage of health quality management and the new materials for providers and evaluators intended to support the implementation of NAHQM standards. Two parallel sessions dealing with NAHQM standards and the evaluation process for the NAHQM accreditation will provide the opportunity for applied debates.
The conference is organized within the project “Quality standards for primary care and ambulatory care in Romania”, having NAHQM as a beneficiary. The project is implemented with European Union financing through the Structural Reform Support Programme and in cooperation with the Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM) of the European Commission - for details, see the webpage Examples of reform support | European Commission (europa.eu).
NAHQM also benefits from the support of a consortium including consultants selected by public procurement procedure, made up of EY Romania, International Society for Quality in Health Care CLG (ISQua), Novel Research SRL and Asociatia CREST.
The conference will be held in English and Romanian, with simultaneous interpretation.
