International Dance Week

International Dance Day is on 29 April every year. The intention of the IDD message is to celebrate dance, revel in the universality of this art form, cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers, and bring people together with a common language – dance.

This year we celebrated all week with lunchtime activities for all staff and students. The weather was lovely and sunny all week and all activities were held outdoors between PA and D wing.

Monday lunchtime we started with a Zumba class with Manuel, to get warmed up, stretched and ready for a week of dance!

Tuesday lunchtime we learned an easy and fun Latin Hip Hop routine taught by year 9 students.

Wednesday lunchtime  we moved as one! We danced the Bus Stop, Nutbush, Maracera and Jerusalema.

Thursday lunchtime we had an outdoor dance party! And what a party it was! Students requested songs from our Yr 11 VCAL student DJ and showed us their best moves.

Friday lunchtime we had a wonderful dance showcase of 4 student performances – Maybel, Ginni, Thenmozhi, Elham and Jackie from year 9 and Cynthia from year 8. St Albans students cheered them all on! What a great week we had!

Thank you so much to all the students and staff who danced, cheered on, and celebrated dance this week, from Ms Tania De Silva & Ms Melrose Tran.
