Junior Class - Mrs Creek

The end of Term 1 signals a lot of new beginnings in our class.  New to school, new friends, new routines and of course new learning opportunities.  The end of any Term can also mean sick and tired students.  So for our class, we look forward to those students who have been ill returning after the holidays.  Our shared story this week was ‘Owl Babies’ and the students were able to draw and write about the book.  Some other students wrote a recall of their guided reading stories.  Maths has included understanding tens and ones for Year 1 students, and Foundation students representing, counting and adding numbers in the 1-10 range.

Have a great Easter and holiday break.  Remember Christ’s words to us, ‘to be of good cheer’.

Middle Class - Miss Williams

This week the Year 2’s and 3’s had a day with Mrs Bell on Monday as Miss Williams was in Horsham for the day. There were some very excited children to see Miss Williams on Tuesday as they hadn’t seen her since Thursday last week! We have worked very hard as the Middles to reach our dojo points goal of 3000. On Wednesday afternoon we were only 10 short, but we were able to make it up in time on Thursday morning to have a wonderful picnic reward to celebrate our amazing achievement and success over the term. In reading we have been reading the Gruffalo and it is sounding amazing, we love the rhythm and rhyme that is happening in the book when we read it and we all very enthusiastically and some days very loudly read it together. In writing this week we have had to show our best writing to a picture prompt. We looked at our writing from the start of the term and were all able to see together the vast improvements so many of the children have been able to achieve over the term. In Maths we have finished module 2 and have done some pre-testing for module 3 and have lots of fun playing maths this week to finish off the term and consolidate our learning.

I hope everyone has a lovely break over the Easter holidays, stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all in Term 2.

Senior Class - Miss Walker

How fast has this term gone? Our class has had a good start to the year but I think everyone will enjoy a much needed (and well-deserved) break to rest up and come back ready to learn.  Our focus text this week was all about Easter traditions and we worked on our researching skills by collecting more information about Easter. In writing, it was really great to be able to share our news reports with the rest of the school and show off some impressive iMovie presentations. I hope everyone has a lovely break over the Easter holidays and stays safe.

Little Joey

This week we continue to acknowledge the significant role of the "Brown Joeys" in the establishment of St Patrick's School, and recognised Olive, Maddison and Zara with Little Joey awards.  Our Little Joeys receive a certificate, sticker and a voucher/goods donated by a local business.  This week's vouchers were donated by Cambrelle's and Wimmera Bakery.  We are very grateful for the contributions from our local businesses.
