Around School

House Cross Country

Well done to all the Year 3 to Year 6 students who ran their cross country today.  They all did extremely well.

Foundation's Phonics Day

Last Thursday Foundation students celebrated Phonics Day, as they have been working hard to learn the sounds that letters make. Students dressed up as an animal, food, or superhero that began with their favourite sound. On the day students participated in lots of different fun activities and challenges. Some of these were: finding letters in the sandpit, magic writing words in salt and fishing for letters.

A BIG Day out!

Harris and Lewis from Year 2 had a great day out at the AFL match between Collingwood and Essendon on ANZAC Day. What a thrill it must have been in front of a huge crowd of more than 78,000 to be lucky enough to play on the MCG at half time.  Auskick and playing footy is one of the many fun team activities that any child can get involved in outside of school hours.

ANZAC Day Activities

Students all over the school did some great activities to celebrate ANZAC Day.

Scout Rogaining!

Hello my name is Leah, and I am a Year 6 student and I am here to tell you about an amazing experience I had.  So I am a scout at the 1st West Waverley troop, we learn how to navigate and survive in the wild.  My friend and I went to go Rogaining with her parents.  We drove all the way to Ballarat (let me tell you it was a long drive) and we got there and had no idea what we were doing.  We had a map and compass in our hands with a highlighted route.  We walked fast off into the distance to our first check point, as it beeped I had a boost of confidence.

All up it was 4 hours (16 km) and at times I was feeling like I just wanted to sit down and relax but no we kept on going without a stop.  We ran back to our meeting spot and that was the hardest bit (we had to run to avoid a point penalty for being late) and as I sat down I had such a sense of relief.  As it turns out we won and we are now the State Scout Rogaining Champions for 2021!
