the Deputy Principal

Mr James Boyd

Welcome back to Term 2. I do hope that families were able to have a restful Easter together and that our students were able to recharge the batteries for the term ahead. We have had an encouraging start with students and staff adjusting back into the KWS rhythms and routines quickly. There certainly appears to be a good sense of purpose amongst the community and this augurs well for the term ahead. To maximise the opportunities that are available, it is vital that our students are organised, create a schedule so they know what is due, where they need to be etc. ensure they get enough rest (especially at weekends), and eat healthily. If any student needs assistance with their planning or organisational skills then they should speak with their Mentor, Head Mentor or Head of Boarding House, who will happily assist.

Sport

It was great to see so many students representing the School over the weekend. I am sure that parents were also happy to be pitch side or courtside and be able to watch your children in action. A highlight for me was seeing some of our senior netballers assisting with coaching or umpiring on Saturday morning and setting a powerful example to the younger students in the process. These are important opportunities for our students and I would encourage others to consider offering their help in this area. This will not only provide the chance to develop skills in communication and planning but also provide good experience for GAP positions or employment whilst studying after Year 12.

I look forward to watching more of our teams over the coming weeks and seeing families on the sidelines. These events are an important step in the rebuilding of our community following the restrictions that have been in place.

Uniform and appearance

A reminder that students are expected to be in full school uniform each day. Anoraks are not an alternative to blazers and students have been reminded of this.

Changing rooms are accessible for Senior School students to get changed for PE / after school co-curricular activities.
