Victorian Volleyball Schools Cup

Gold Medal winning Year 8 girl's volleyball team

Great performances from our teams

What an amazing week of volleyball we had, with five of our six development teams playing in a Vic Schools Cup tournament for the first time.

All teams improved so much from their first to their last games, guided by their coaches through the highs and lows of the day. The Yr 8 Girls 1team managed to win a GOLD medal against Heathdale after defeating Upwey and Eltham High in the pool games. The Yr 8 Boys team won bronze after a slow start to the day. We look forward to big things from them come the 4 day tournament The Yr 8 girls 2 team finished 4th. After such great matches in their pool games, they just couldn’t quite overcome Eltham College to take home the bronze.

It was a tough day at the office for our Yr 9 boys team, coming away with no wins. There was most certainly the opportunity, but the consistency wasn’t there. It will give them lots of things to work on at training in preparation for the 4 day Vic schools cup. The Yr 9 girls team ended the day with a win in their cross over game. So much improvement in one day.

The Yr 11 Boys team had an impressive start to the day with a win over Billanook College. They finished 3rd in their pool, but missed out on a Bronze in the finals, running out of time to put more points on the board in the 3rd set. I am extremely proud of all the players and coaches. They exceeded every expectation. There was a lot of excitement and great volleyball played. Thanks to all the staff who accompanied teams and to the parents for their ongoing support of the program.
