Student Leadership

Melbourne Youth Leadership conference

On the morning of the 27th of April a group of Northcote High School students started their journey into the city where they were destined for the Victorian Youth Leadership Conference. Unsure and keen to find out what they were getting into, they made their way up St. Georges Road. Upon arrival Northcote High School was welcomed into the Melbourne City Conference Centre where they were asked What is a good leader? The first speaker explained the purpose of the exercise by saying that young people’s definition is very different to the definition used in offices and in corporate boards and the impact of that difference for the futures of the young Northcote High Students watching. Finally, after the students had listened to some great speakers the students from Northcote were able to talk to young leaders across Australia about their experiences. By the end of the day the students returned to their school with skills they needed to succeed.
