Principal's Report

Thank you for a great Term

As the Term comes to an end I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making this a great first term of 2021. It has been great to see such continuity of learning, having the opportunity to run extra-curricular events and have parents engaged and involved with the school.

I hope that all of our Kalinda staff, students and families are able to have a relaxing break over this Easter period and spend some quality time with family and friends. I'm looking forward to an exciting Term 2 with lots of great events coming up such as our 5/6 camp, our 1/2 excursion to the zoo and our Welcome BBQ.

HOPE Centre

I had the opportunity this morning to attend the opening of the HOPE Centre at Heathmont College. The HOPE Centre is a central hub for the Maroondah Positive Education Network and will be a great facility where staff from Kalinda and other schools will have the opportunity to attend for Professional Learning. The hub will also be a centre for students, parents and the community to participate in events and training that enable all of us to build our well-being literacy.

The HOPE Centre was opened by Acting Premier James Merlino and it was wonderful to hear him acknowledge the collaborative work that has happened between schools in this network and the Maroondah City Council in upskilling our staff and young people with the skills to manage their well-being through the challenges of life.

Changes to COVID Safe protocols

The Victorian Government has further relaxed its COVIDSafe settings from 6pm on Friday 26 March 2021.

Changes to the COVIDSafe settings include allowing more visitors in the home, changes to mask wearing in some settings and updates to density limits in some settings. There are limited operational changes for schools.

Visitors continue to be welcomed at our school, however face masks must be carried by individuals 12 years and over at all times and worn when physical distancing of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained.

Individuals aged 12 years and over must continue to wear a face mask when on public transport, school buses and when in taxis or ride share vehicles – unless they have a lawful exemption.

Thank you for your understanding and support throughout this term as we continue to implement COVIDSafe practices at our school.

I look forward to welcoming our students and families back to more school events in Term 2.

Welcome BBQ

I would also like to let you remind you that we will be having a 'Welcome BBQ and Open Classrooms' on Thursday 22nd April (first week of Term 2). We will share more information closer to the date of the event.

2022 Enrolments

Enrolments are now open for 2022 and it would be great to start receiving your enrolment forms for students beginning in Foundation (or at other levels next year). The sooner we receive enrolments, the sooner we can begin planning for next year. Please find the enrolment form below and it can be sent to the school via post (Kalinda Primary School, 39-49 Kalinda Rd, Ringwood 3134) or by email to kalinda.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au
