Principal's message

Dear MGSC Community

Holidays are here! The first term has gone by so quickly even though we have had a jam-packed calendar.

We were treated to some fantastic weather yesterday at the Athletics Carnival. The student participation this year was so high that we were unable to squeeze in the staff-student races at the end in spite of both sides really wanting to do so. I wish to acknowledge the outstanding work of Ilana Parker, our Sports Co-ordinator, for the organisation of both the Swimming Carnival and the Athletics Carnival. The SRC were also raising funds yesterday by way of a sausage/veggie burger sizzle which will go towards a worthwhile charity as always.

The rehearsals for the House Performance commenced last week. I managed to make my way to all four houses to see the students singing enthusiastically. The House Captains always do an outstanding job with their coaching and organisation leading up to the House Performance next term.

The second of our Parent Teacher Student interviews took place last Thursday. At the Parents and Friends' Association (PFA) meeting, I received feedback that the interviews went smoothly and they were pleased to have had a conversation with their daughter’s teachers.

Please spread the word that the school’s Open Night / Information Evening will be held on Wednesday 21 April from 7pm to 8.15pm. Whilst we won’t be having school tours on the evening, families will hear from key staff on our programs, year 7 and year 12 students and be treated to musical performances and an aerobics routine. We have increased the frequency of the day tours throughout the year with one of the tours being held on the day of the Information Evening. Families are required to book tours and register for the Information Evening via our website.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday break.

Best wishes
