Sport and competition

Year 8 Round Robin
Congratulations to the year 8 teams that competed in their first round robin a few weeks back. Teams were filled in Cricket, Tennis, Lawn Bowls and Volleyball. An exceptional day was had by all with some teams experiencing some wins on the day including the cricket team who were the overall winners on the day coached by Mr Hull.
Tennis
Eight awesome students represented MGSC in year 8 tennis. The girls worked exceptionally well together as a team. They all showed resilience and skill during their doubles and singles games. We are proud to say that our A Team made it through to regionals! Overall, we had a great day with lots of laughs and fun. Congratulations to everyone who participated.

Cricket
Unfortunately, we only got to play one game as the other schools pulled out but that made us want to win even more. We batted first and did really well, making 175 runs in only 10 overs! Then it was time to bowl and field. Once again we were on fire and bowled them out 8/35 which lead us to winning the match. The girls were so supportive of each other and got along which was great to see. Flip and I were very proud of the girls and the way they played as it was their first time playing cricket.

Year 7 Round Robin
The year 7s also had an opportunity to compete in their round robin day on Tuesday 23 March. The buzz with excitement filled the Gym foyer with lots of happy faces. What an exciting opportunity for these students – being selected to represent their school in a divisional competition.
Congratulations to our softball team, coached by Ms Holman and cricket team coached by Mr Hull who were both the overall winners of the day. These teams now progress to the regional finals in term 2.
