Election Market (most likely the 11th or 18th May)

The Federal Election is approaching and once again, Monty Primary School will run a variety of Market stalls on the day of voting. This will occur sometime in May, as soon as the pollies set the date. In the meantime preparations have begun and we are putting out a call to parents in the school community to volunteer to be the ‘coordinator’ of particular stalls at the event. This essentially means a bit of organising in the lead up to the day, and being onsite for setup and to get the stall going. It does not mean a whole day commitment (we’ll enlist plenty of other helpers for the day).

The Election Market is an important event for the school. It allows us to do significant fundraising out into the wider community and keeps us connected with that community. Many new families say they use these types of days to bring their young families along so the children get used to the school grounds before they start here. It is a very social day to help on and you will often find yourself catching up with people and families from kinder, other schools, or even neighbours. Early in Term 2 we will be asking for all families to help out on the day for an hour or two, but in the meantime we have some key organising roles that need to be filled.

In particular we need someone to take on the following roles:

  • BBQ coordinator. This will involve ordering the food items, ensure gas bottles are filled, napkins etc (we have some process documents from previous bbq’s to help with this).
  • Plant stall coordinator – This will involve doing a bit of a stock take of plants that people are donating and left over from Mothers Day, organising some price signs, pricing the plants and being onsite for setup on the day.
  • Craft stall coordinator – This will involve doing a bit of a stock take of Mothers Day gifts and craft items from last election market, organising some price signs, pricing the items and being onsite for setup on the day.

Thank you to the following people who have volunteered to fill roles:

  • Raffle coordinator - Renae
  • Cake stall – Casey
  • Face painting – Ivy
  • Glitter tattoos – Laura
  • PR artwork – Faye

Please email me on michael_suzi@optusnet.com.au if you are able to help with any of these coordinator roles.
