News and Upcoming Events
Last weekend saw the completion of the season, with LMJCC collecting two premiership flags following wins in their grand finals!
The Under 13 derby final continued with U13 Gold starting their chase of the U13 Blue total of 9/161 from the previous weekend. In an entertaining match that came down to wire U13 Gold reached 8/163 in the 35th over to claim the premiership. In a good team effort, excellent contributions were made by Ryan Jones (a crucial 19 retired not out toward the end of the innings), Zach White (17 retired not out), and Lachlan Scanlan (16 retired not out). The wickets were shared by the U13 Blue players. This is the club’s first ever premiership in the U13 age group, so congratulations to everyone involved.
In the U17 two-day final the U17 Gold side unfortunately were unable to develop significant partnerships in their chase of a small total (119). Under pressure by good bowling from Riverton/Rossmoyne, wickets fell regularly resulting in the side being dismissed for 92. Despite the loss, the U17 Gold side should be congratulated for a fine season that saw them in the top-4 for the entire season. For most players in the U17 side it was their last game for LMJCC and the club wishes them well in their future cricket careers.
Finally, the U17 Blue team had a hard-earned win in their one-day final against a very competitive Gosnells side. After winning the toss and batting, U17 Blue built steadily throughout the innings with excellent contributions from captain Will Collins (30 off 21 balls), Shane Nairn (26 off 28 balls), Lachlan Risch (27 off 41 balls), Alex Marelich (20 retired not out off 39 balls), and Aiden McLean (19 off 26 balls) seeing them finish at 6/161 at the completion of their 30 overs. In reply Gosnells quickly slumped to 3/26 under pressure from excellent bowling by Daniel Cave, Hayden Della Franca and Aiden McLean. However, a middle-order recovery by Gosnells saw them reach 5/124, until some excellent pressure fielding by the entire team highlighted by Ben Adams (3 catches), Shane Nairn and Oliver Adriano (2 catches each) and 2 run outs, saw the U17 Blue team dismiss Gosnells for 139 to claim victory in the 28th over.
Congratulations to all players who represented the LMJCC with distinction during the season.
