Graduation for 2020

This Thursday, our Grade 6 students undertake their graduation as part of their final week of primary school with us. This will take place at Federation University from 6pm on Thursday. After a formal ceremony with some key messages and awards, the event will be a great way for the kids to celebrate their final year with their peers and teachers with some finger food and a disco to follow.

Following on from Thursday, our final assembly will showcase the dances that the Grade 6 students have created over the past few weeks, before we create a guard of honour for the students to head out to the oval and throw their graduation hats in the air.

On behalf of all the Buninyong Primary School, we would like to wish the year 6s well as they head off to secondary school next year. We know they are ready and will make the most of all the opportunities that are presented to them.

Please note: Only students departing the school and graduating are allowed to sign their school shirts on the final day.

Parent Resource - Understood.org

From time to time we like to share resources with parents that support the home-school bond in regards to their child’s education. From memory problems to speech and language issues, pretty much everything is covered.

This time, we would like to share Understood.org. This resource has lots of information for parents and recommendations to specific learning issues and age levels. If you would like to jump on and take a look, you’ll find ways to support your child further as they progress in their schooling.

Emergency Evacuation Drill - Last Week

Last week we held our off-site emergency evacuation drill with the kids to help them prepare and understand the processes for emergencies. The kids did an exceptional job under the guidance of staff to relocate the whole school safely and calmly to our off-site location in approximately 17mins. Thank you to those who had a chat to their child/ren prior to the drill, those discussions really helped to ensure everyone remained calm and responded appropriately on the day.

Drumbeat Comes To A Close

Last Monday, our Drumbeat students finished their 10-week program with a bang, showcasing their skills to a selection of friends across the school. The program is aimed at helping students to understand their bodies and how they can make their transition into secondary school successful. A massive thank you to Kelsey, Paul, Alice and Tanya for their support over the past term! We have really appreciated your support and are proud of the efforts our students have shown.

Crossfit At Buninyong PS

Last week the grade 4 students were huffing and puffing out on the soccer pitch as they were given a taste of a Crossfit workout with the coaches from Buninyong Crossfit. Alex, Anthony and Imogen (an ex Buninyong PS student) took the kids through some warm up games, demonstrated some skills and techniques and then ran a small circuit for the kids. There was lots of Crossfit movements such as squats, burpees, kettle bell swings and other exercises. The kids had a great time working up a sweat and getting some great tips from the coaches.
