BASE 1270
Successful Rating Assessment
Last week we received the report from our Rating and Assessment Review that was held a few weeks ago. Overall the report was very encouraging. In these reviews, outside of school hours services are rated against 40 elements from the National Quality Standards. We received a rating of ‘met’ for 39 of the elements and ‘working towards’ for the 1 element. Overall this results in a rating of ‘Working Towards’.
That’s a great result and we owe a great deal to the Base 1270 Team that has done such a great job over the past 15 months. Liam Rigby has done an outstanding job as the program coordinator and has been well supported by Kim Dargaville as Assistant Program Coordinator and the Educators. Mel Crimeen has done a huge amount of work in the background as our Program Administrator. Kartya Degraff and Kelly Pails have also been a great help by serving on the Base 1270 Sub-Committee of School Council, which takes care of the governance side of things.
We look forward to Base 1270 being an important part of our school for many years to come and in 2020 look forward to making some alterations to the gym that will improve its usability as a home for Base 1270 and all of the other ways we use the gym and attached spaces.
Final Week
WOW! Who can believe that we are in the final week of the 2019 school year. It has been an action-packed, fun filled year at Base 1270 and we have thoroughly enjoyed it!
We would like to wish Devi all the best who has taken over the role as Program Coordinator for the 2020 school year. We know that she will do a fantastic job!
There is still plenty of time to secure your booking for the Vacation Care program. The program will be running from the 13th through to the 29th of January. Indoor rock climbing and gymnastics, the Werribee Zoo, Buninyong Swimming Pool and Xtreme Bounce are just some of the exciting things we will be doing.
This week is going to be extremely hot so please make sure that you bring your hat and drink bottle with you to After School Care!

Vacation Care
Bookings are now open for Vacation Care. Please head to My Family Lounge to book. For any queries or assistance with the booking process please contact Mel in the office.
The vacation care program will be released at the end of this week. Unfortunately we have had to cancel the Scienceworks excursion on
Monday 20th January. If you have a suggestion on somewhere you would like to go as an excursion, please speak to Liam or Devi this week.
Outside of School Hours Care Bookings For 2020
It’s hard to believe it's the end of Term 4! As always there’s lots of planning and organisation happening for the following school year. I would be grateful if you could assist us by confirming bookings for next year as follows: -
- If you would like the same booking pattern to continue next year – Do nothing. Your booking will roll over to next year.
- If you would like to change days/frequency – Please make a new booking request through ‘My Family Lounge’.
- If you would like your booking to cease at the end of Term 4 – Please send me an email to confirm this – oshc@buninyongps.vic.edu.au
- For any Grade 6 students heading off to secondary school – Do nothing. Your booking will end at the end of Term 4.
If you are continuing to use the service next year, please pop onto My Family Lounge to confirm all details are up-to-date.
