Minimum Standards

On Monday 1st July and Tuesday 2nd July year 10 students and selected year 11 students completed the Minimum Standards testing in Reading, Numeracy and Writing.

The Minimum Standards testing is a requirement by NESA for students to receive their Higher School Certificate and offers students with a level of attainment credential in Reading, Writing and Numeracy.

I was very pleased with the attitude and effort of all our students throughout the two days of testing, with Marian achieving some very good results.

All students who sat the tests on Monday met the Minimum Standard (Level 3 or 4) in Reading and only a small handful of students did not meet the Minimum Standard in Numeracy. The Writing test results are not yet available, however, all students were busy planning, writing and proof-reading their responses throughout the 45 min test.

I will be providing another opportunity for any student who has not yet met the standard in any of the three tests or was absent on either of the two days to re-sit the test(s) in term 4.

Year 10 into Year 11 Subject Selections

I will be meeting with all year 10 students on Monday 12th August to inform them of the process and information needed to meet NESA and/or ATAR requirements in stage 6.

A parent/student Information Night will then be held on Tuesday 13th August.

These sessions are an opportunity for students and parents to understand the NESA requirements in stage 6 and ask any questions. Students, with their parent or guardian, will then be invited to sit down with a senior member of staff to discuss their individual pathway and/or subject selections on Monday 19th August.

I urge all students and parents to keep these dates in mind when planning in term 3. It is important that all students are correctly informed when making decisions about the correct course selection/pathway for them in stage 6.
