MCC seismometer recorded the Darwin earthquake 25 June.

According the The Guardian, Darwin residents have reported buildings swaying and parts of the city centre have been evacuated after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the city.

The epicentre of the earthquake was in the Banda Sea, north of Timor-Leste, on Monday and prompted reports of large tremors in the Top End city.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued an alert just after 1pm saying there was no tsunami threat to Australia following the earthquake.

 

Year 7 Science

Yr 7 science have been studying the crystalline structure of rocks and minerals and they enjoyed making their own crystals from copper sulfate in the lab. They learned that crystal growth is related to temperature and time.
