Onyx Community

Onyx

Onyx has had a super busy few weeks with lots of learning taking place across all key learning areas.

Onyx students did a wonderful job of hosting their tea parties.  They created two amazing spaces that transported their hosts to the decade of the 80s and the Marvel Universe.  Their guests were very impressed with the effort and organisation required to host such an event.

Onyx students have also enjoyed getting their hands dirty during a community waste audit that was conducted as part of our inquiry unit into sustainability and the environment.  Students identified  the issue of unnecessary packaging and the challenge of using the recycling bins effectively.  This activity complimented the learning that took place during our excursion to CERES, where our students had the opportunity to participate in hands on learning experiences involving renewable energy, sustainable architecture, biodiversity, agriculture, and Aboriginal history.

Currently in Onyx, students are working on completing their information reports on various topics around sustainability and environment.  They are very excited to complete these and present them to our parent community.
