Ruby Community

Ruby

It has been a super busy term for students in Ruby Community! We have had a range of events to assist our learning. We have had a Book Tasting, Publishing Party, Sushi Demonstration and Ceres Excursion.

Book Tasting

The Book Tasting helped students to try new books and genres to increase their reading engagement. Students loved investigating new books that they could read! We also opened our classroom library, which some community students helped organise. A reminder to parents that students need to be reading at least 20-30 minutes each night and recording this in their Green Books.

Publishing Party

We have had an amazing term of writing Information Reports and to celebrate this the Ruby teachers held a Publishing Party. Students were invited to share their published texts with other students, enjoyed some snacks and received a certificate for their magnificent writing work.

Sushi Demonstration

After we finished up Information Reports, students started to investigate Procedural texts. We had Rachel Nagai (George’s mum) come in and run a Sushi Making Demonstration to engage students in following a procedure!

Ceres Excursion

As part of our Inquiry learning students participated in an excursion to Ceres Community Environment Park. Students were involved in three activities; making a bag out of an old t-shirt, ecosystem Jenga and the Merri Creek walk. It was a great day for all and we learned lots of information to continue building our knowledge about sustainability.
