Pastoral Care

Next Friday I shall leave my position as Pastoral Care Worker at MCC. I have enjoyed my time working with such enthusiastic and passionate students and staff who have a social conscience and want to make a positive change in the community. I have many fond memories of my time here and cherish the friendships that have been created with our students, their families and the wonderful MCC staff.
Whilst I will continue to work with youth in an educational facility, my role will be that of a case manager working with disengaged youth, community engagement and liaison with community based youth services. The role will be challenging however I feel that if I do not step out of my comfort zone I will forever be wondering if I have reached my full potential as a youth worker. The decision was not an easy one and I am the first to admit that I am apprehensive however I think my anxiety is based on leaving familiar surroundings and people who I have a great connection with rather than the role itself.
My beloved COMMUNITY ACTION TEAM will continue to run activities and it will continue to flourish. Our current group of year 10 leaders are extremely motivated to achieve more than their predecessors and I have complete faith in their ability to do so. At next week’s student briefing they will discuss the “I Care Kit” personal care packs and the water bottle recycling program which will commence the following week. Please continue to support the students in their endeavours and keep the ripple of kindness a reflection of the MCC community.
The uniform pool will continue to provide assistance to those who require and may be accessed by contacting your Pastoral Care Leader or homeroom teacher. The last two weeks alone we have provided quality uniform items to over twenty young people; particularly jumpers and long pants. No one should ever be cold or find themselves in a position where they are not suitably equipped for school. It is our moral duty and our commitment to our Christian faith to ensure that all members of our MCC community have what is required.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has supported the C.A.T in any capacity. Your generosity has been extremely appreciated and will never be forgotten.
To Alan LeBrocque and my team leaders Lora Segrave and Heath Neville; I thank them for supporting and promoting the work of the C.A.T and for their encouragement and belief that young people have the ability and capacity to bring about change.
I hope wherever your journey in life takes you that you stay safe and happy.
Kindest regards,
Sue Hone (Pastoral Care Worker)
