PLC (PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES)

This week the Year Level leaders all completed the Professional Learning Communities course. This has been an outstanding eight day course providing the level leaders the time to have collegiate discussions, and opportunities for professional growth and development which will then have a positive impact on continuing to promote best practices for teaching and learning at Wheelers Hill.   The level leaders are looking forward to sharing their journey with the staff and implementing their learnings to focus their teaching practices on ensuring targeted teaching and student growth. . The final day of the course provided the level leaders and Michael and I the chance to undertake a “Pecha Kucha” presentation to the school leaders from seven other schools to show our PLC journey.

SUSTAINABILITY

This week the Sustainability captains and the art captains have been working on a piece of art work that will be displayed in The Glen shopping centre as part of a competition. The Glen are about to enforce a “no straws” policy across the shopping centre. The art work we are contributing highlights the dangers the straws pose to our marine wildlife.  Congratulations to Ellie, Olivia, Tara and Izzy on working together to create a wonderful piece of art.

Mrs Orford took a lovely photo of some of our preps during her yard duty this week.  They are super keen to don the green vests during recess and lunchtime to help keep our school neat and tidy.

PREMIERS READING CHALLENGE

Congratulations to all students who have completed the Challenge this week and to all the students who have been continuing to add books onto their Challenge list. As a school we have read at total of 11,539 books which is an incredible effort.

Congratulations to Year 3 who have 52% of student completed and Year 6 who have 53% of students completed.

MEDIA ARTS

All students in the school have been participating in the Media Arts Inquiry units this term. This will culminate in a Film Festival day on the Thursday 27th June. The afternoon will be open to all parents to come and view the students work.  Please place the date in your diary as the students are eagerly looking forward to sharing their work with you!
