Principal's Report

31st May

Open Night

Thank you to all the parents, students and friends of the school that attended our annual Open Night last week. It was a terrific opportunity to showcase all the programs and talents of our students over the night with a number of performances in the gym and student learning in the classrooms. Thank you to Kathryn Watson and Meagan Baker for the organisation for the night and to all the teachers for the great activities in classrooms across the school. A special thanks to Mr Stockton for all his work in setting up many ICT activities and programs. Thank you again to all of our parents for coming and for your ongoing support for the school.

Student Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews

Teachers are currently preparing end of Semester 1 reports for all of our students. These will be available for parents via Compass on Wednesday 26th June in the last week of Term 2. The next Parent Teacher interviews will be in the last week of Term 3. This will be an opportunity to discuss student progress in Semester 2 and future growth and learning for the rest of the 2019 school year.

Ridiculous Rhyme Show

Earlier this week the whole school enjoyed an exciting incursion called the Ridiculous Rhyme Show all the way from the UK. The students were able to learn more about literacy through rhyming in a drama performance.  After the whole school performance the Year 5 and 6 students also learnt about how TV shows and films are produced as part of the Media Arts Unit they are studying this term.

Prep Enrolments 2020 - Final Reminder

Just a reminder if you are planning on enrolling your child at Wheelers Hill Primary School next year (it may be a younger brother or sister of a student already here) please pick up an enrolment form at the office or download one from the website. Please return it to the office as soon as possible as we will be sending out offers of placement and finalising the Prep enrolment process by the end of Term 2.

Tax Time and Voluntary Contributions

Thank you to the many families who have donated to the Building and Library Funds this year. Donations to these funds are ATO approved and are tax deductible.

Library Fund:  Library Fund contributions are used to purchase fiction, non-fiction, electronic resources and other resources for the Library and Literacy Programs, program reference materials, and class sets of readers.

Building Fund:  Funds are used to maintain the school buildings and improvements to the school grounds for the students.

It’s not too late to make a contribution before the end of the financial year and I encourage you to do so if you are able to support our school and students.

School Review Parent Survey - Last Opportunity

In Term 3 our school will be participating in a School Review. This occurs every four years and is a part of our ongoing School Improvement Cycle. We collect data from many sources to reflect on the last four years at WHPS and to help improve and inform the future directions of our school. We would greatly appreciate your feedback by answering the questions in the survey link below. This is the last chance to complete the survey as it will close next week.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey.

Queen's Birthday Public Holiday

Just a reminder that Monday 10th June is the Queen's Birthday public holiday and students are not required at school. I hope everyone enjoys the upcoming long weekend.
