Cross Country
Congratulations to the 2019 Cross Country Team
On Thursday the 23rd May a team of 65 students from WHPS travelled to Jells Park to compete in the WESA district competition. Perfect cross country weather, sunny and mild, provided great race conditions. All those early morning training sessions paid off as our students were certainly fit and ready to go.
This year, for the first time, WHPS had a full team of runners in every category. And the course was located at a new venue, Jells Park- so nobody knew the course or had run it before. WESA had also decided that this year, the top 12 runners of each event would go through to compete again at the Division level. This gave everyone an extra chance to go through to the next level.
Needless to say there was a great deal of excitement upon arrival as the team photo for 2019 was taken.
All of our students completed the gruelling course with many achieving their personal best. An effort they can be very proud of! We came 3rd overall for the day which is another step up from last year. Congratulations.
For 2019, 13 students have progressed through to the Division competition, being held at Jells Park again, on Wednesday June 6th from 10 am-12.00.
