Save the Date - Assist A Student Day - Tuesday 8 October 2019
On Tuesday 8 October, (first Tuesday of Term 4), the Vinnies will hold their annual Assist a Student Appeal. This is the school’s opportunity to extend their reach beyond our shores, to help children in less developed nations receive an education. Through a program managed by the St Vincent de Paul Society, a mere $70.00 can educate a child for a year. ‘It is well known that education improves a young person’s opportunity of gaining useful employment, thereby increasing their ability to support themselves and their families. It is a means of empowering an individual to break out of the cycle of poverty.’
To this end, the school will have a FREE DRESS DAY for the cost of a $3.00 donation, and ALL students are asked to embrace this fundraising activity. Our goal is for each Pastoral group to raise the $70.00, enabling them to continue educating the child allocated to them last year. A sausage sizzle will be held at lunchtime, with sausages costing $2.00 each. Last year we raised in excess of $2,300.00, enabling Nazareth to educate approximately 34 students in some of our Asia/Pacific neighbouring countries. I am extremely hopeful that, with your support, we can exceed this amount in 2019.
