Principal

Aaron Cox
Principal
It is with great excitement and humility that I write this newsletter as the substantive principal of Kingswood Primary School. I have tried to remain impartial here at Kingswood since Rosemary’s departure, but as the selection process is now complete, I can begin to share my vision for the future of this great school with the school community.
I will present my vision for Kingswood on Wednesday 17th October at 6.00pm. I understand that the time of this event may not be suitable for all, therefore we will live stream the event on Facebook so we can embrace as much of the school community as possible. It will be our Term 4 Meet the Principal Class Q&A event. For those present onsite, a Parent Club meeting will follow at 7.00pm. This will be a great opportunity to stay around and mingle with our wonderful committee members. If you have any questions for the Q&A, please feel free to forward them to me directly, or via the office by no later than Monday 15th October.
Patrick and I will oversee the appointment of a new Assistant Principal in the very near future. As ‘we thrive in a team culture’, this process will involve selecting a person who will offer a different set of skills to the ones we have, to bring a broader scope and depth to our principal class team. The successful candidate will be introduced to the school community upon completion of the process.
Success comes in many, many forms and the development we have witnessed with our students in the production of Peter Pan has been exciting to watch. You have to go through hard to get to easy and our students have worked diligently for months to achieve the standard they have reached. Our directors, Louise McLeod and Emma Costabile deserve great praise for going above and beyond. They have been supported during the week and on weekends by a number of dedicated staff who want our children to embrace their passions. A big thank you to all involved.
I would like to welcome back Maddie Rowles who has returned to us from her family leave. She is working alongside Verity Sheppard in 2S. Bree Morgan 6S gave birth a healthy baby boy last week. She named her bundle of joy Arley Flint. Julia Clemente is now only days away from the birth of her first child.
We are currently in full swing with our workforce planning for 2019. We are currently employing and reemploying 6 teachers including 2 graduates. More jobs will be available as we finalise structures for 2019. We have recently offered Verity Sheppard - Professional Learning Communities Link Leader. Verity Sheppard will work closely with a number of schools from Port Phillip to the Peninsula and will regularly hold tours for educators to see the professional practice that takes place here at Kingswood. Verity will be only 1 of 17 educators across the whole state to be given this honour. This is yet another example of ‘Kingswood are leaders in education’.
