Assistant Principal's Report

Leadership Conference

The 14-15th of November was our annual Leadership Conference. These two days give the leadership team of the school an opportunity to collectively build strategic plans for the school.

This year our focus was on decreasing change to increase improvement. We are a forward thinking and dynamic school, with many improvement initiatives happening from day to day. In 2020 our focus is to be more strategic with ensuring all of our actions align to impact student outcomes.

We have three main goals surrounding wellbeing, achievement and engagement. These goals will help us to develop every student in the community and endeavour to develop high expectations around all of our programs and in particular our teaching and learning.

As a supporting community there are a number of great and simple strategies, you can do to help us to achieve greater outcomes for your children.

  • Talk about education and its importance with your child; check in on their learning and development. Ask about the types of teaching and learning that are happening and what assessments are coming up.
  • Actively encourage attendance, there is a strong correlation with attendance and student outcomes.
  • Provide us feedback on our performance. We are regularly guiding students and providing feedback on how to be better learners and be better citizens. We use restorative practices to educate when mistakes are made, and are always looking for growth opportunities. We are also open to feedback from you, and encourage communication from families. Whether this be praise, constructive criticism or otherwise, we love hearing from you.

2020 will be another exciting year, we hope 2019 has been a great one for you and your family. Thanks for your ongoing support, have a brilliant and hopefully warm and safe break.
