Maths in 5/6FA

In 5/6 FA the first mathematical topic we are learning about in Term 2  is Chance. The children will be exploring the language associated with Chance and conducting a variety of experiments to observe and record chance outcomes. The children will be investigating how to write Chance outcome as fractions, decimals and percentages. The topic of Chance comes from the Statistics and Probability area, of the Victorian Curriculum.

Here are some of the views of 56FA children on learning about Chance in Mathematics:

I enjoy learning about the different terms used in Chance like dependent and independent. Tomasz

I enjoy learning about the different experiments and the outcomes you get. Eva

I find challenging when I have to change Chance outcome into fractions and decimals. Philip

I find challenging when you have to work out the results of different experiments and they use decimals. Dylan
