The SRC is organised by subcommittees which target areas of the Sustainability, STEM, Student Agency, House, Events and any other area which students feel passionate about, such as Student Newsletter. A SRC leader’s responsibility is to lead committees of student representatives. SRC leaders should collaborate with each other, supporting all student representatives to achieve positive outcomes.
SRC leaders are elected from the SRC member based on the committees each year.
SRC Leaders may:
- look for learning opportunities in and beyond the school. This can include identifying areas of improvement in curriculum or teaching and learning, promoting opportunities for student agency or involvement in learning, fostering cross-curricula projects, making community links. Leaders of these committees can expect the support and cooperation of the STEM representative, VCAL/VET representative, as well as input and participation from other relevant representatives.
- ideate, plan, publicise and coordinate school events and celebrations. This can include casual clothes days, Harmony Day, World’s Greatest Shave, LGBTQI+ parade, Twilight Market, etc. as well as assist with hosting of external speakers and visitors. Leaders of these committees can expect the support and cooperation of the Media representative, Music representative, Performing Arts representative, Audio Visual representative as well as input and participation from various other relevant representatives.
- initiate projects to improve student engagement and pride based on school data and student feedback. This can include house events and competitions, transition to BSC for Year 6-7 students, etc. The leaders of these committees can expect the support and cooperation of the House representatives, Peer Support representatives as well as input and participation from various other relevant representatives.
