IPSSO Sport Report

Term 4, Weeks 1&2

Last week our school hosted Oran Park Anglican in the first week back of the Summer season. This week our school hosted St Peter’s.

Junior Oztag

The Junior IPSSO Oztag season resumed last week with St Gregory’s taking on the 2nd placed team from Oran Park Anglican. It was a hotly contested first half with St Gregory’s leading 2-1 at half time, thanks to two tries from Connor Potts. St Gregory’s then extended their lead in the second half thanks to some speed from Alexandra Nothdurfter (1 try) and Seth Obereigner (2 tries). Connor Potts then sealed the game with his second try, giving St Gregory’s a 6-3 victory and keeping the undefeated streak intact.

This week, St Gregory’s played host to St Peter’s Anglican College. The conditions were blistering, however, St Gregory’s came out firing with a number of quick tries to Noah McKinnon, Alexandra Nothdurfter, Denham Tsagalas, Seth Obereigner, Olivia Jardine and Lily Harland to take a 9-0 lead into half time. St Gregory’s built on their lead in the second half, showing great teamwork in defence and skill in attack to take out the match 16-1 and keep the streak alive. It was great to see the players demonstrate focus, determination and composure for the entire game. Our next round is away to Wollondilly Anglican College. Congratulations to all players involved.

Senior Oztag

Our Senior Oztag team has got off to a fantastic start to Term 4 with two successive victories.  Last week we came up against Oran Park Anglican, winning 6-1. A special mention to Harry Hoyle who scored an impressive hat-trick of tries. This week Lady Luck was on our side and we appeared to be unstoppable, as we defeated St Peter’s with an impressive 16-0 win. We displayed great teamwork and attacking flair to score numerous entertaining tries. As always, I was proud of the team’s efforts and encouragement towards each other.

Thank you to our spectators for your support!

Junior Cricket

Our first game back for Term 4 saw our junior cricketers win against Oran Park. St Greg’s won 86 runs to 63. As it was their first game since Term 1, it took some time to get back into the swing of playing cricket again but once they focused on the skills of the game they did well.  This week we played St Peter’s and they defeated us 94 runs to 68. One person who needs mentioning for his batting is Ethan Handunneththi who scored 13 runs. Overall, they continue to be enthusiastic about playing cricket.
