Year 7 Science
In Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Year 7 have been working on understanding force and distance. Over the previous few weeks they have had to design and make their own catapult.
Students were given paddle pop sticks, pegs, elastic bands and a spoon to make a catapult. The students have had a number of lessons focusing on angle projection and height to understand how the force and distance of the object being catapulted changed depending on the angle.
Students are enthusiastically involved in the project and are now at the stage of making their catapults.
Attached are some pictures of 7 STEMJ building their catapults.
Online learning was an interesting time for Music students, meaning more interaction with digital music-making, rather than the use of physical instruments. Students explored the creation of their first digital music through Chrome Music Lab, recreating the Star Wars theme by John Williams. It was a tough challenge, but students put their creative minds to work and made some excellent arrangements.
Now back in the classroom, students are investigating orchestral instruments and learning some classic Bach on the keyboard and guitar. Students have been very excited to be exploring their favourite instruments again.
