Remote Learning returns!

Dear families,

We had the briefest of returns to school last week before the state entered a six-week lockdown to help fight the Covid-19 outbreak.

Given this is now our third phase of remote learning this year we are well placed to hit the ground running and both staff and students are very familiar with the platforms being used.

If you or your child has questions regarding remote learning please use your usual contacts - home room teachers, subject teachers, year level co-ordinators or our wellbeing team if needed.

We all want to see our students progress so please get in touch if you notice anything is not working as it should be. Our office remains open and support services such as IT are here to help.

Our Year 9, 10 and 11 students should be preparing their subject selections for 2021 at the moment. Please see details inside this newsletter. Our Year 7 and 8 students will receive their information to assist with subject selections next week.

I am pleased to report that we have not had any further positive cases of Covid-19 in our student body or wider school community, although the broader Colac area has seen significant spread of the disease in the past few weeks.

There has been some stabilising of the numbers here in recent days and we hope that the trend now reverses and we see a gradual improvement.

It is vital that we limit travel and avoid visiting other households to reverse the trend, and we are behind the local campaign to 'return to none' when it comes to active cases in our community.

Although it is difficult, please stay home and stay safe. Keep using masks and gloves when required. Follow strict hygiene practices and social distance where possible.

Our main concern is for the health of our students, staff and families, so we seek your support in keeping everyone safe.

Please communicate with us should any issues of ill health arise in your family and we can advise on the steps to take as directed by the Health Department and Catholic Education.

The premise for dealing with any unwell students or staff members remains the same:

⦁ Follow the advice of your medical practitioner. It is recommended that any unwell person who has symptoms associated with COVID-19 is tested for the virus.

Temperature checks

Please be aware that any student visiting the College campus will be required to undertake temperature screening and this will come into effect from Wednesday, August 12.

Based on guidance from Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, in order to support community awareness of the symptoms of COVID-19 and to help identify children displaying symptoms, all schools have been asked to undertake temperature screening of students participating in the on-site supervision program while the stay at home restrictions are in place.

Should a student record a higher than normal reading initially, a second check will be conducted before parents and carers would be notified of the abnormality and asked to collect their children and seek medical advice.

We ask that all visitors report to reception before entering the campus.
