Junior Physical Education

Janine Bain - Junior Physical Education Specialist

This term, the focus in physical education will be on Athletics. Students will be working on ball games, sprinting, long jump, the distance throw, and shuttle relays, in preparation for the Athletics carnivals in Week 9. Students will also continue to develop the skills of kicking, dribbling with the feet, and passing as used in the games of soccer and AFL.

Year Three students have been working with Miss Bradshaw, a work experience student from WSHS. Miss Bradshaw has been teaching the skills needed to play modified hockey and umpiring various Invasion games.

We are also fortunate enough to have other work experience students from WSHS  in Term 3 to assist the Year 1 students with their Fundamental movement skills.

Students will continue their daily fitness program with the emphasis on circuit strengthening exercises and endurance activities which will help to improve their Athletics skills. If your child wants to further practise their sprinting and throwing skills at home there are some excellent video demonstrations in the Connect, Junior Physical Education, library section.
