From the Principal

Dear Huntingtower Community,

I warmly welcome you to Term 3. While our commencement has required a return to a blended delivery mode, I acknowledge the amazing support of the community and the continued efforts and professionalism of all our wonderful staff. Huntingtower is ready and able to switch between onsite and online learning as required.

It was wonderful to welcome our Early Learning Centre and Years 10-12 students back on campus this week. I also enjoyed speaking with Middle School students as they came to collect their materials and receive briefings. I commend the Middle School students for their mature approach and confidence in moving back to continuous and online learning. To quote a Year 7 student: 'Mr Houghton, we’ve got this! Looking forward to seeing your smile online'.

2020 has required all of us to become self-reflective. This year's theme is 'Know thy true self; know thy true school' and I have seen remarkable strength, resilience, perseverance and willingness to embrace new ways of being without any compromising of the love and kindness central to the Huntingtower community.  Staff, students and parents are working in ways most of us have never done before or even contemplated we would. The students are learning skills that will undoubtedly benefit them well into the future.

'If your endeavours are beset by fearful odds; and you receive no present reward, go not back to error, nor become a sluggard in the race. When the smoke of the battle clears away, you will discern the good you have done, and receive according to your deserving.'

Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health 22:14-20

This passage resonated with me as I reflected on my first semester at Huntingtower. We have been challenged and presented with difficult decisions and yet we have still forged a path through uncertain times by keeping Love at the centre of our decisions. When the dust settles, I am sure the Huntingtower community will receive according to the good we have done. The good has been plentiful!

I look forward to continuing to keep the HT community informed through our letters, VLOGs, video conferencing and webinars. Thank you for your support as we work tirelessly to both keep all members of our community safe on campus and provide the high-quality education and care for the students that Huntingtower is renowned for, be that in the classroom or online. Remember that in these times it is love and kindness that will have the most positive impact.

I wish all members of the community the best of health and happiness and send the collective love of the Huntingtower community to you.
