A cat is a small animal, they are the size of a small dog.  A cat can either be either be a house cat, a farm cat or a feral cat.  Cats like to hide, eat and then go to sleep. Cats love to play with your feet. There are many different types of breeds. Popular breads are Savannah cat, Maine Coon, Munchkin Cat and Persian Cat.  There are about 60 cat breeds.  They weigh about 4-11kgs. They can live to 12-15 years old.  

 

Facts about Cats  

  • Cats have 230 bones, humans have 206.
  • Cats can make up to 100 different sounds
  • A cat’s jaw can’t move sideways, so a cat can’t chew large chunks of food.
  • Cats can drink sea water.
  • Cats only meow at humans, they hiss and spit at other cats/animals
  • Cats can live to 12-20 years old.
  • A group of cats is called a “clowder”
  • Cats love to bite, about 40,000 people get bitten every year in American annually.
  • A cats hearing is better than dogs, a cat can hear high-frequency sounds up to two octaves higher than a human.
  • In 1888, more than 300,000 mummified cats were found in the Egyptian cemetery. They were stripped of their wrapping and carted off to be used by farmers in England and US for fertiliser.
  • A cat usually has about 12 whiskers on each side of their face.
  • Researches say your cat does know her name, they just don’t care.
  • A cat’s heart beats nearly twice as fast as a human heart.

Katniss my cat likes to scratch me. She falls asleep on my back when I’m sleeping. She sleeps all the time, and can fall asleep everywhere. She rolls off my bed, she’s very clumsy. She gets angry at me for no reason. Most cats when they fall, they will land on their feet, but Katniss doesn’t, because she’s clumsy and her parents didn’t teach her that. 

 

Advice for people adopting a cat  

They shouldn’t get a cat because they’re cat litter is stinky and messy, my advice for the stinky litter is to put a bag underneath to protect the floor so the floor doesn’t get yucky.  

Don’t get a cat because they are hypo and annoying.  

Don’t get a cat because you can’t bath them.  

If you have a dog be careful, because they can climb and they will hit the dog, and bit them if they don’t get along. 

If you own a bird BE CAREFUL because the cat will try to eat the bird.
