What's happening in the 3/4 classrooms

Welcome to Term 3. 3/4 students have been applying themselves to complete their learning at home. This term the middle school will be exploring the concept of Place and Space through Natural Disasters with our big concept being “What a Disaster”. The students are preparing to write their information reports for their chosen natural disaster through which they will display their learning for different audiences.

In Religious Education, students will be exploring sacred spaces and places, a site of natural, historical and Religious importance by identifying their features, the importance and associated traditions.

For Social and Emotional Learning this term we will be focusing on Persistence. Students will learn how to use and develop their personal qualities and strengths and the importance of persisting when they are faced with challenges. They will learn about having a positive growth mindset and 'the power of YET'.

While students are at home during Home Learning we still have some students with working parents on site. On Mondays, our students have been completing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities where we have been reading a picture storybook together and keeping with the main idea of the texts, have then been creating masterpieces. Monday's text was “Who Sank The Boat”. Students using limited materials to constructed a boat of their own that needed to float for more than 30 seconds. The students worked in small teams, showed great teamwork and collaboration skills and together cheered each other on.
