Principal's Report

The Toolamba Community have been in my thoughts over the past two weeks. Hoping you are all safe and well. After a bout of Covid and then LSL, I am certainly looking forward to returning next week and catching up with everyone.

Heather

We handed out a bulk amount of awards on Monday as it was our first time assembling together since the first day of term. It was pleasing to see so many students recognised for their efforts in class and as community members. We are also proud of our student leaders who put great thought into their awards to find peers that display our school values.

It will be great to see Mrs Kennedy back next week. We have a great team of staff at Toolamba PS and I know that Heather will be impressed by the response of our community through recent events. We have seen teachers work with families to ensure students have uniforms and are well supported when returning to school. It was certainly an advantage to have had returned last week as this week has been a very productive one in all classrooms.

Our teachers are currently working on improving the students' outcomes when reading independently. We are keen to build the stamina of students to be able to enjoy reading for longer periods of time. This can be supported at home by providing texts of interest and sharing books, our Book Fair is still open and is a great place to browse for some new selections.

Senior school teachers are busy working with students to ensure that we are organised for our series of camps to complete the term. The Grade 5/6 students will attend Anglesea in Week 6, Grade 3/4 will attend Campaspe Downs in Week 8 and then a bonus where Grade 3/4/5/6 will attend Phillip Island in Week 11. The Grade 2s will have their School Sleepover in Week 11 also.

I hope you enjoy the long weekend,

Craig Thompson
