Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 4! It is hard to believe that the year is at least three quarters of the way through! Students and staff reunited with great excitement yesterday morning, looking rested and ready to go. There was lots of exciting news to share about fishing trips, sleepovers at cousins, trips around Australia (in one case) and secrets about Mummy’s new baby (Hint for parents - kids can RARELY keep this news to themselves - it’s way too exciting!)

There are lots to look forward to in term 4 with plenty of camps and excursions planned as well as the return of our Mission Fete towards the end of October and Graduation (Thursday 8 December) of our exceptional Grade 6 class.

I trust all families were able to enjoy some extra time with these brilliant kids during the past two weeks as the calendar reminds us all that they won’t be kids for long.

GRANDPARENTS DAY As our school continues to open back up to our community we are inviting all Grandparents into our school NEXT Friday, October 14th for a picnic lunch on the school grounds with their grandchildren.

Because of Covid-19 we have not been able to run “Grandparents Day'' for the past couple of years, and we are very aware that some Grandparents may not feel confident about entering such a busy environment because of their own health concerns. To this end I am very happy to report that we have not had a Covid-19 report since August 30.

More details will be in next week’s newsletter, but roughly speaking Grandparents should visit from about 1:15pm - 2:15pm. Children will escort them to the ELDEST grandchild’s classroom first where they can have a look at the work the children are doing before touring the school to admire the beautiful artwork on display.

Grandparents should bring something yummy for lunch to be enjoyed picnic style in our school grounds. Children are still able to place a lunch order on this day. Our school choir will be performing in the courtyard from about 1:45pm.

We hope lots of our cherished Grandmas and Grandpas can come along.

ASSEMBLIES We have assembly this Friday. A reminder that our assemblies are again open to parents and friends. They generally commence around 9:10am (after the lunch orders etc are organised) and usually over by 9:50am.

Ms Borgia’s Grade 2 class will be leading assembly this week. We always listen to the Gospel for the coming weekend and we present awards to the children.

The awards can be a thrill for the children, but I truly believe they are a gift to the teachers who present them. Our teachers get to speak publicly and positively about someone else - one or two of their students - and this is guaranteed to make anyone feel better. I recommend it to everyone. When we truthfully say something positive and affirming about another person it makes the person that says it feel better. Hopefully the one you are speaking to feels better as well but it is fantastic for your own mental health and happiness.
