Students in Years 7 to 9 will be undertaking Adaptive PAT-R and PAT-M standardised testing during their normal English and Mathematics classes over the next few weeks. PAT-R and PAT-M tests are Progressive Achievement Tests in reading and mathematics.
This new CEWA initiative allows for the collection of standardised achievement and growth data that will enable review and improvement. The baseline data collected will help determine learning growth by Term 4, 2023. For students with a disability, these standardised assessments will be administered as developmentally appropriate. The adaptive nature of the PAT assessments will enable students to engage with questions at an appropriate level. Teachers will inform students of the days on which the PAT testing will occur.
Students must bring their charged laptop to their Mathematics and English class on the day of Testing. For more information about this standardised testing you can read Adaptive PAT Testing Information. Please contact Dr Resta (Mathematics) or Ms Pettigrew (English) if you have any questions or concerns.
Year 10 students will complete their Semester Two Examinations between Thursday 24 November and Friday 2 December. Mrs Rachel Allsop (Assistant Deputy Principal - Year 10) is in the process of finalising the Year 10 Examination Timetable.
Students should expect to complete examinations for a greater number of subjects than in Semester Two, including some elective subjects. More detailed information regarding Year 10 Examinations will be provided in the very near future.
A reminder that Year 11 students who are currently studying ATAR courses will sit their Semester Two Examinations between Monday 7 November and Friday 18 November. The Year 11 Examination Timetable is available below.
Every year is special, but of course the Year 12 class of 2022 is particularly special. Our Year 12 students have experienced many challenges not only this year but over the past three years since the beginning of the global pandemic. They have missed time from school, been forced to isolate, been sick and missed classes because their teachers have been sick. Therefore their completion of Year 12 and their achievements are even more exceptional.
The students have shown great courage and resilience! There are countless stories of students who have faced considerable challenges and difficulties, who have persevered, shown great determination and resilience, and achieved success. Our students should ALL feel very proud of their growth and achievements not only this year but during their time at Sacred Heart College.
Thank you again to all of our Year 12 students for the contribution they have made to Sacred Heart College. I wish all Year 12 students every success in the future. I also thank all parents for everything you have done for your child to help them to reach this point and for your support of the College.
On Thursday’s College assembly we presented our Year 12 students with Academic Honours. To achieve Academic Honours a student must achieve 'A' grades for at least two-thirds of the graded subjects they study. To achieve an 'A' grade in any subject is a challenge, but to achieve ‘A' grades for most of the subjects you are studying at Year 12 level is an outstanding achievement. We congratulate the following recipients of Academic Honours:

Given the uncertainty of the COVID-19 context, candidates should also stay abreast of current messaging about the COVID-19 pandemic in their area in the time leading up to examinations and during the examinations.
If a candidate or their parents/guardians/carers have any questions relating to the conduct of the Authority examinations, they should contact SCSA on 9273 6377. SCSA runs the ATAR Exams, Sacred Heart College simply provides the venue.
Information about COVID-19 arrangements for the 2022 ATAR course examinations can be found below.
Although the majority of the Written ATAR Course Examinations will be at Sacred Heart, some students will attend an alternate venue. Students are encouraged to visit these venues prior to the ATAR Course Examination so that they are familiar with the location and are encouraged to allow plenty of travel time.
The majority of ATAR Course Examinations will be held in MLC6/7 located in the McInerney Learning Centre (old gymnasium). Students with special conditions will complete examinations in MLC4 (upstairs) .
Students completing Practical ATAR Course Examinations are reminded that they are NOT permitted to carry or wear anything that can identify them or their school, sporting club or achievements. If this does occur, students may be referred to the Breach of Examination Rules Committee and significant mark penalties may apply.
Sacred Heart students attending our College venues for Written Examinations will be permitted to wear either their summer school uniform or their sports uniform. Students can also wear their Leavers Jumpers.
If a student is seeking an approved absence due to Sickness/Misadventure, they must ensure that the completed 2022 Sickness and Misadventure Form is received by SCSA (PO Box 816 Cannington WA 6987) no later than 4:00pm on Tuesday 22 November, along with any medical evidence, to be considered. Envelopes should be marked Confidential – Attention Carolyn Hackett. Electronic applications are not accepted.
Applications related to only the practical examination should be submitted immediately following that examination. All applications related to written examinations should be submitted immediately following the last examination affected by the situation. Late forms will not be accepted.
Students will not receive any consideration unless they have suffered an acute episode of the illness during the Examination period. Please note that long-term illness falls outside SCSA's policy and guidelines for sickness/misadventure.
Parents are requested to contact Mr Tony Budas (Assistant Deputy Principal - Year 12) if there is any possibility of your child missing an ATAR Examination due to sickness/misadventure.
