KIMBERLEY MISSION COMMISSIONING MASS
On Monday evening, the Kimberley Mission Krew of 2021, 2022 and 2023 came together to share in the Commissioning Mass. This Commissioning Mass is a deeply rooted tradition of mission at the College. It stands as a celebration of God’s call to make “disciples of all nations” and as a sacrament of the invisible bond that all mission students share. This bond has been forged through the Holy Spirit and has empowered each person called to mission, with courage, compassion, respect, selflessness and strength.
The students of 2021 passed the baton of mission to those embarking on their physical journey to the Kimberley in 2022 through giving the gift of an Ichthys pin. The Ichthys is the Christian fish symbol that began in early Church history and continues today as a reminder that all Christians are called to bring the Good News to the world, and thus be “[fishers of people].” Every mission student has been, and will be , involved in sharing the love of God to others and, in their own small way, making the world a better place by bringing people to know God through their actions and words.
As well as this, Fr Cyprian and the congregation blessed this year’s Krew, a blessing of love, support, encouragement and unity. It serves as a reminder that the College community that remains behind will be sustaining them with their prayers.
The students of 2023 were blessed as they begin their 12 month mission journey and prepare their hearts, minds and spirit for what lies ahead.
I wish to thank everyone who celebrated mass on Monday with us and I look forward to sharing the mission journey with Mission 2022.
