Yesterday we celebrated our Year 12 students at their Graduation Assembly. It was a fantastic assembly with many acknowledgments of our Year 12 students.
My message to the Year 12s was centred around their contribution to our College.
Year 12s, you have impressed me. As I reflect over the year it is fair to say that your modelling, your leadership to others and the general way you have approached this year has been first class and you have certainly set the benchmark high for the Class of 2023 and future Year 12 students.
I thank you for your contribution to our College, not only for your work and leadership in 2022 but during all your years that you have been here at Sacred Heart. On behalf of all those present here today, I wish you well, lots of happiness, good health and much success in your life.
Congratulations Year 12s – well done.
On Sunday, Year 12 students will return with their parents/caregivers and family members to formally graduate from the College. Myself and all the staff attending, look forward to sharing this special occasion with our students and their families.
I thank and congratulate the teachers that have taught the Class of 2022 over the years and those significant staff members at the College who have had an influence on their development. In particular, I thank the Year 12 Pastoral Care Group teachers: Mrs Sam Thompson, Mrs Danyella Roddis, Mr Aaron Porter, Mr Sam Di Nucci, Mrs Joanne Warren, Mr Steve Cowan, Mr Tim Martino and Ms Monique Saunders and the other Pastoral Care teachers that they have had over the years.
I also thank their Assistant Deputy Principal (ADP) - Year 12 Mr Tony Budas who has been their ADP in Years 8, 10 and 12, Mr Bill Quartermaine in Year 7 and Mr Ernie Ayala in Years 9 and 11. I also thank Mrs Sandra Manning and Mr Trevor Lynch who have supported the students and the ADPs over the years.
On Monday evening, Mass was celebrated with the staff and students who attended the Kimberley Mission last year along with the 2022 group and those selected to go in 2023. The Year 11 students and staff who are attending the Mission later this year received a blessing from Fr Cyprian and Kieran Lobo (2022 Stewardship Captain/Year 12 Barlow) gave an account of the Mission through his own experience in 2021. I am very grateful to Fr Cyprian who always makes himself available for our community and to Ms Susan Rodriguez who organises the Kimberley Mission. My very best wishes to all the students and staff who will be on Mission in late November this year.
As a reminder to all families, the College Awards Night will be held at the College Koort Centre this year. The scheduled date remains as Tuesday 22 November. This year, only Years 7 and 11 students, together with Award recipients and performers, are required to attend. Students who are in Years 7 and 11 and those who are presented on stage will need to be attired in the College's Winter Uniform. A more detailed letter will follow to parents/caregivers of students required to attend.
God Bless.
